   Two things Body etching is done by a professional in a sterile environment. Not many Tattoo shops offer it because of it not being considered a true art form.
   Scarification is something that the boys get together and try with no advance knowledge of what they are doing and end up doing a lot more than scarring up each other, like lose their body parts! the things some drink and drugs can make you do….

   Body etching tends to be more of a homemade thing, in my experience. The stereotype is of young tragic couples cutting their names into each others arms and such. It is temporary by definition. It plays a big part in BDSM sex play and other areas.

   Scarifcation is a much more serious procedure where skin is carved out of the skin down to the subcutaneous (fat) layer, leaving a permanent red scar and dip in the skin.

   Both are very beautiful forms of art in my opinion, but not for the squeamish!
