What is the difference between body lotion and body cream?

I have some bath and body works lotions and creams but I don’t know the difference between them. I just see the obvious which is cream is thicker. Is there any other differences? thx.

There really is no difference, except the cream which is thicker may be better suited for drier areas of the body which need extra moisturizing ( exp: elbows, knees, feet, etc). The lotion which is thinner is better suited for all other areas that need a light moisturizing.

I personally like the cream, but since it is so thick I feel I end up using too much as I used to use it over my entire body after the shower. Now, I just use it on spots that feel rough

at a guess i would say the cream moisturises and the lotion makes your skin feel and smell nice but i’m not completely sure either
