The over the counter stuff work to an extent. They're merely topical treatments. The best way to solve acne is a combination of topical and internal treatment. Drinking a lot of water always helps. Trust me, this is coming from someone who's tried a lot of treatments. Topical takes you but so far. Your dermatologist will prescribe you stuff you can't get over the counter, such as minocycline or if serious enough, isotretinoin (Accutane). Isotretinoin is the strongest stuff out right now, and likewise with the most POSSIBLE side effects. In a nutshell, use the your medical insurance and go to a dermatologist. Apply it on your face. Don't smile, talk, etc... it will form wrinkles. After it dries, take a towel and soak it with water. Next, wring the towel out. (Make sure it's still a bit wet.
