I agree that high heels are disempowering for women and I do think it is somewhat hypocritical for someone dedicated to personal empowerment to advocate wearing them. And Oprah does have many shows where fashion advisors encourage the wearing of high heels.

You can’t walk far, or run in the things. You’re up in the air, teetering in a fragile position. Not very powerful, IMO. I’m quite short but I gave up wearing high heels a long time ago. So, what, I’m short. At least I can run if I need to. At least I can still walk at the end of the day.
